When you're young as a small boy you
want to try every sport, do every sport and be the best
at every sport. At that time of my life i was good at
most sports, so sport tended to be the centre of
my everyday life.
Then at about 14 years old i needed to make the transition
of being a 'Jack of All Trades' to becoming a 'Master'
of just one. The choice was between Judo or Football.
Thankfully I had my dad's wisdom to hand and he soon
advised me to concentrate all my efforts soley on Judo.
This was the main start of my huge success in Judo.
I
would like to thank my family for their continued support
and understanding throughout my judo career
and a huge extra special thank you to my dad, who without
his drive, vision, encouragement, patience and
of course financial support, none of the success i had,
would have been at all possible. Thank you.
An extra thankyou must go to my first
instructor, Jeff Archer, who took me under his wing
in Germany and opened up my eyes to the world of Judo.
I must thank everyone involved with
Pinewood Judo Club, especially my fellow Judokas there,
because without them and the hard blood, sweat, tears
and tiring training I shared with them, there is no
way I would have gone from being a scrawny, timid 13
year old to a confident and successful Judo Athlete.
Last but not least I would like to
show my appreciation to my coach at Pinewood Judo Club,
Don Werner. He is an amazing instuctor and quite simply
the best Judo coach ever to have walked the earth. (Even
before the Dinosaurs). He made me what I am today. Thank
you.
